✅ How to Use Mounjaro
1. Prescription Only
• Mounjaro must be prescribed by a healthcare provider. Don’t start it without medical guidance.
2. Injection Schedule
• Inject once a week, on the same day each week (e.g., every Monday) (1 pen for single use only)
• You can take it with or without food, and at any time of day.
3. Administration Instructions
• Subcutaneous injection (under the skin) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
• Rotate injection sites weekly to avoid skin irritation.
• Use a new pen for each dose. Do not reuse pens.
4. Starting Dose (as commonly prescribed)
• Typically begins at 2.5 mg once weekly for 4 weeks.
• Then increased gradually (e.g., 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, up to 15 mg) based on effectiveness and tolerance.
5. Storage
• Store in the refrigerator (36°F–46°F / 2°C–8°C).
• Can be kept at room temperature (up to 86°F / 30°C) for up to 21 days if needed.
⚠️ Important Notes
• Do not use if:
• You or your family have a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
• You are pregnant or planning pregnancy (consult your doctor).
• Side Effects May Include:
• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation
• Reduced appetite
• Fatigue
• Injection site reactions
• Rare: pancreatitis, gallbladder issues
• Monitor: Your doctor may check blood sugar levels and adjust other diabetes medications to avoid hypoglycemia.
